Wes Cooper, Owner

Raised in Calgary, Wes is a 4th generation general contractor—starting with his great-grandfather, who oversaw the construction of such prestigious projects as the Banff Springs Hotel and Chateau Lake Louise. Initially, Wes charted a different path, studying finance and German, then starting his career overseas with international brands Siemens and ADIDAS. During that period, he was impressed by the building codes and quality of European architecture and, in particular, the standard that new construction should last for 300+ years.

More About Wes Cooper

Eventually, Wes returned home to work at the Royal Bank of Canada before transitioning to a career in software sales. The latter opportunity brought him to Denver, where he weathered the collapse of the “dot com” era. Disillusioned by the constant reinvention of technology, he was drawn to work in a more timeless, proven industry, as well as the opportunity to control his own destiny. Returning to his family’s roots, he pursued a certificate in Construction Management at Colorado State University and began a second career in commercial building.

After a few years in commercial construction, the more mindful, relationship-based aspect of residential projects appealed to Wes’ interests, inspiring him to purchase Basements & Beyond in 2007. Over the next 15 years, he incrementally grew the already successful remodeling business to focus on more historic, complex design-build projects with the help of a talented team of in-house architectural designers and seasoned project managers. In 2023, he renamed the brand “B&B” to better represent this evolution, while still acknowledging the company’s roots.

When he’s not in the office or on a project worksite, you can find Wes in the air—flying volunteer, non-emergency missions for Angel Flight West and dog rescue missions for Pilot ‘n’ Paws.

Tammy Cooper, Owner

Though raised in Ontario, Tammy was first introduced to the construction business by her Wisconsin-born grandfather, who owned a lumber mill. That entrepreneurial spirit helped inform her academic pursuits, as she paid for her own studies in International Relations, Law and Marketing. She then began a career in the corporate realm, including a decade as the Marketing Manager for two Fortune 100 companies: Hewlett-Packard and General Mills.

More About Tammy Cooper

Leveraging her nuanced understanding of various marketing channels, Tammy successfully transitioned to a second career in real estate at Sotheby’s in 2003, where she is now ranked among the top 1% of all brokers in the U.S. and is locally recognized as one of the top Denver agents by 5280 Magazine. With one foot in real estate and another in construction at B&B, her work is largely devoted to client relationships. She especially enjoys following a project from start to finish—and, in particular, witnessing how remodeling can transform a client’s relationship with their home.

When she’s not out touring properties or researching the market, Tammy enjoys traveling, skiing, mountain biking and escaping to the mountains with her family.
